A Beam Signing Ceremony was held on Friday, December 19, 2025 for the Delavan Public Library took place in Council Chambers at the City of Delavan protecting attendees from the bitter cold. It seems, the weather partners with us for each exciting milestone! (If you remember, Groundbreaking had extensive rain!)
Mayor Ryan Schroeder, City Council members, library stakeholders including the library board, foundation, and friends, donors, and community members attended the quickly arranged event. (In order to keep ahead of the holidays and stay on construction schedule, the ceremony was scheduled quickly.)

This “final” beam was manufactured in Chicago and weighed in at 200 pounds. Speakers at the ceremony included Library Director, Michelle Carter; Library Board President, Linda Zell; Mayor Ryan Schroeder; and, Assistant Director/Youth Service Librarian, Katherine Schoofs.
A special thank you to the City Streets Department for organizing and transporting the beam, Friends of the Library for refreshments, and everyone for braving the cold! And, a special note to David Dresdow for the photos!
